Parentheses - An interruption of continuity; an interval.
"This is one of the things I wasn't prepared for — the amount of unfilled time, the long parentheses of nothing" (Margaret Atwood).

“For every period of time when you exist, short or long, there is a temporal part of you that exists only then. And for any temporal parts of any objects whatsoever, there is a larger object made up of just those parts.” - John Locke
"Every time I enunciate 'I', even in my thought, an identity is assumed, and this identity is itself not simple, but a figure of a complex gathering of personal and impersonal histories, texts, discourses, beliefs, cultural assumptions, and ideological interpellations...it is not an artifact but a process." - Richard Dyer

As life goes by, romantic dreams must die.
So I bid mine goodbye, and never knew. - So Close, Jon McLaughlin

this Christmas i grew up. presents, in themselves, didnt interest me, no matter how expensive. what really mattered was the relationship between the giver and receiver. besides, what i really wished for, no one but God can give.

still, Christmas exudes this warm fuzzy feeling; where everything is so familiar, comforting, safe, happy (even if it is superficial, even commercial). this year though, more than ever, it felt ephemeral. watching the twinkling lights from the christmas tree at home in absolute darkness, when everyone else's asleep, the sight oozes this soothing, healing, emotion all over me. a kind of much-awaited, much-needed solace, maybe, to tell me that everything's fine now, and that everything is going to be all right from now on...

can i believe this? should i?
