i was watching The Guardian on dvd, fresh out of its plastic cover, over the Easter weekend. a really touching and thought-provoking movie. i like such nondescript movies, ive never really taken to those highly commercialized ones which tend to have a predictable plot and not much food for thought later on. this movie is almost a documentary on the US Coast Guard, which i have a newfound and deepest admiration for. i really cant put the experience of the movie into words so i recommend you buy the dvd or get the dvd from me if you're interested. one thing that left a lasting impact on me was the US Coast Guard's motto - "So Others May Live". what a noble motto to live up to! it takes A LOT to put it into action though, at the crux of the moment between life & death, to give up your one and only life + all your family and friends so that a stranger can have his. would you?
this was the soundtrack. ive never heard a song so reflective. the lyrics consist of some of life's hardest questions. some of them may sound cliched but REALLY, can you do it? its amazing how Bryan Adams manage to string it into a song! :)
